This prototype was developed in our 7th semester, over the course of five months by seven students.

LEVEL DESIGN


We started our inital brainstorming by drawing out where the different islands should be and how the players gets to the main island. We also defined the biomes and what ressources the player can get in each one.

We went on to use a different approach, ranking each of the biomes and with that the items the player can acquire. For example, the player starts out with a stone pickaxe, in the second biome he can then mine copper and make a copper pickaxe out of it, which he requires to mine iron.


First Blockout in Unity, we discussed the scale of the islands and ultimately decided that we have to scale them down way more. We also figured out that we have to design them more interesting and play around with the shape a lot more.
